BSIA Security Officer Winners 2007
Security Officers from VSG were among the winners at the annual BSIA Security Officers award ceremony held at the prestigious London Hilton, Park Lane on July 11th.
The BSIA's Annual Security Officer Awards demonstrate that professionalism is at the heart of the security guarding industry in the UK.
Presenting the winners with their awards was Sir Ronnie Flanagan GBE MA, HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary. Officers from VSG received awards in the categories of Service to the Customer, Best Newcomer, Best Team, Best use Of New Technology and Outstanding Act.

Service To The Customer
Andrew Beaver
Andrew was recognised for his work at Carlsberg UK's brewery in Leeds. He was nominated for his efforts along with his team for the apprehension and the subsequent arrest by the police of a total of 16 intruders. Always one to go beyond the call of duty, Andrew produce a research document into the increasing incidence of false fire alarms at the brewery. The findings led to a 30% reduction in fire alarm activation.
Best Newcomer
Danny Bradford
Danny was put forward for his work at B&Q in Nottingham. He assisted in the development of on site training programmes to retail security officers throughout the B&Q portfolio. Danny's hard work hasn't gone unrecognised as he was promoted recently to B&Q Retail Area Manager.
Best Newcomer
Laurence King
Lawrence has been nominated for his work with B&Q Nestle during 2006. He received special recognition for his achievements at B&Q Halifax as he took over as Acting Area Manager for a short period. Lawrence has been described as professional and conscientious and has been praised for having made such a positive impact on VSG.
Best Team
High Chelmer Shopping Centre Team
The team were recognised for the hard work and professionalism they demonstrate on a daily basis. In particular, they were put forward for their swift action when dealing with a potential suicide attempt. The officers remained calm and professional as they managed to talk a woman out of jumping from the multi storey car park. The team's success at dealing with nearly 600 incidents and the fact that they have been instrumental in 140 arrests was also acknowledged.
